Sony Confirms 2 Honeycomb tablets..

For long we've been hearing whispers about the arrival of Sony's tablets. But now, Sony has officially blown the trumpet. In a press event held in Tokyo on April 26, the Japanese technology major announced that it will soon roll out two Android Honeycomb-based tablets - codenamed S1 and S2 for now.
It seems like Sony is listening a lot to what consumers crave for. Not too long ago, it announced the first ever Android Walkman phone. And not these tablets. They first make it for us to believe it. “It's truly a Sony”.
Though Sony has been mysteriously late in jumping on to the tablet bandwagon, it looks like the company has been using the time to craft a tablet with revolutionary looks. Both the tablets, which will be PlayStation certified, are expected to hit the shelves towards the end of autumn.
The S1 looks like no other tablet available out there. It has a 9.4 inch screen and a wedge-shaped chassis which is curved back on to itself like a wide-open paperback book. The user experience is expected to differ wildly to most tablets on the market. It's designed specifically to run Sony's Qriocity platform, which enables the users to purchase ebooks, videos and music on demand.
The S2 sports an ever more unusual design. It comes in a clamshell design in which it presents a first-time-ever chassis which is hinged in the middle. This approach can lead to some really interesting scenarios. For example, in Sony ebook reader app, which presents two pages of an ebook at any given point of time and gives you a true book reading experience.
Both these tablets will come loaded with Nvidia's Tegra 2 chip and will be PlayStation certified. This means users would be play PlayStation games with considerable ease.

Razer Hydra motion controller, draws you deeper into PC games.

For some, PC gaming may have lost its luster, thanks to current generation gaming consoles sporting motion controlled inputs such as Microsoft's Kinect and Sony's Playstation Move. Razer is stepping in to ensure PC gaming stays relevant with the announcement of the Razer Hydra.

The device comes with a pair of motion sensitive controllers, extending your natural body motion directly into the game. This allows players to reach out and interact with the game's physics. The Hydra also boasts low power consumption and a precise sensor to track movement. Watch the following gameplay video of Portal 2 to see how the Hydra works.

The Hydra has been optimized to work with over 125 PC games, including popular games like Call of Duty: Black Ops, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and Left 4 Dead 2. This device is only compatible with Windows however, so Mac users won't be able to join in the fun.

Razer will be taking pre-orders for the Hydra and Portal 2 bundle from next month. While the bundle costs US$139.99, there's no word on the price of the product alone. With a release date set for June, we shall have to wait till then to see if the Hydra will make an impact on PC gaming.

Olive launches its low-cost Android phone, the OliveFluid V-W1

Olive Telecom has launched a new low-cost Android phone in the market, the OliveFluid V-W1. Priced at Rs. 10,990, the OliveFluid is an Android 2.1 handset, something unexpected after Olive brought the first Gingerbread phone in the Indian market, with the OliveSmart V-S300.
However, once we take a look at the specifications, we begin to see why the software is not up to date, and begin to wonder just what Olive was thinking by bringing such an offering into the bustling low-cost Android market, even at a sub-Rs. 10K price. Nothing really stands out about it.The OliveFluid has a 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen with a 320x480 resolution, which is on the lower side of pixel density, but not too bad. It has a 468MHz processor however, with just 256MB of RAM and ROM. Relevantly (for a phone running Android Eclair), the OliveFluid has just 256MB built-in storage, though it is expandable to 32GB via microSD.
All is not all bad however, and the OliveFluid redeems itself slightly by offering 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and A-GPS connectivity. It has a 3MP camera onboard, as well as a 3.5 mm audio jack, digital compass, gravity sensor, and proximity sensor. Its 1,300 mAh battery is surprisingly rated to deliver just 4 hours of talk time, and 192 hours of standby time.
Finally, with perhaps the best way to offset the out-of-date hardware, Olive Telecom has also included a content bundle with the Olive Fluid – a free six month subscription to Zenga TV.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 to launch on 8th June, arrive in India by July

Samsung has announced the launch date of the Galaxy Tab 10.1, which is now scheduled to hit shelves in the U.S. on 8 June 2011. It will be launched globally within 30 days of this, and Samsung assured reporters in the country that it will come to India soon after, by July. The Galaxy Tab 8.9 for now doesn’t have a fixed date, and will arrive sometime after the 10.1 tablet launches.
The super-slim Galaxy Tab 10.1 is an Android Honeycomb tablet that Samsung hopes will take on the tablet-defining and also super-slim Apple iPad 2 directly. While Samsung has not announced when exactly it will be releasing Wi-Fi+3G versions of its tablet, it has priced its Wi-Fi version at the same price as Apple, with the 16GB version set to retail for $499 (approximately Rs. 22,000), and the 32GB version for $599 (roughly Rs. 27,000).

As always, you can expect the products to be quite a bit more expensive on Indian shelves. In other news, Samsung India has now announced that its Galaxy S II flagship Android smartphone will be arriving in the country sometime in May.

Android-based Sony Ericsson Walkman W15 phone spotted, to launch by May

The ‘smarter Walkman phone’ that Sony Ericsson teased us about earlier this year seems to have been spotted, with more details about the specs. Previous rumours hint towards this being the first Android Walkman phone from the company. A new leaked image shows the packaging of the device, named W15.
Reportedly resembling the Sony Ericsson Xperia X8, the W15 will have a 3-inch HVGA touchscreen, a 600MHZ processor and a dedicated music chip, as well as a 3.2MP camera. It will apparently have special Walkman apps, as well as ‘specially developed touch interface.’ While there has been no information about the version of the operating system, it is almost a given the device will be Android Gingerbread.

The Sony Ericsson Walkman W15 is expected as early as late April, or by May. We suspect the timing is no coincidence, soon after the launch of the Sony Music Unlimited service on the PSP,  the PlayStation-certified Xperia Play, and the Sony Ericsson channel on the Android Market, which provides users a place to easily find SE’s proprietary customized Android apps, as well as an independent platform for partner developers to show their wares.
